Camera-Free Chat
Chat with strangers
without a camera.
KoruTalk is built for people who don't want to be on video. Text chat requires no camera whatsoever. Voice chat is audio-only — your microphone, never your camera. No account required. Always free.

Start voice chat →Why most random chat sites require a camera — and why KoruTalk doesn't
Most random chat platforms launched as video-first products — Chatroulette, Chathub, and others are built around the live video grid. Camera access is built into their core experience, which means users who don't want to be on video are second-class users at best.
KoruTalk made a deliberate choice to go the other direction. Text chat is a first-class experience, not a fallback. Voice chat is audio-only by design — not a stripped-down video mode. The reason is simple: most people are more comfortable talking without a camera, and more comfortable conversations produce better connections.
What "no camera required" actually means
On many platforms, "no camera required" means you can technically join without one — but you'll be skipped constantly because other users only want video conversations. KoruTalk is different because the platform isn't video-first at all.
For text chat: no camera permission is ever requested by the browser. There is no video interface. The match is text-only, both sides. For voice chat: the browser requests microphone access only — camera permission is never triggered. There is no video feed on either end. KoruTalk's voice chat doesn't have a video layer that's been turned off — it was never built with video to begin with.
Camera-free and private
Skipping the camera is the most visible privacy feature, but KoruTalk goes further. Sessions are ephemeral — when you disconnect, the conversation is deleted. No chat logs are stored. No audio recordings are made. No account means no profile to associate with your activity. You can have a real conversation with a real person without leaving any record that it happened.
Better conversations without video pressure
Video adds a layer of self-consciousness that works against genuine conversation. When you're on camera, you're managing your appearance, your background, your lighting — alongside actually talking. Remove the camera and that cognitive load disappears. What's left is the conversation itself. Text gives you time to think before you respond. Audio-only voice chat puts the focus entirely on what's being said. For talking to strangers, both formats tend to produce more honest, more interesting conversations than video.
How KoruTalk compares to video chat alternatives
Chatroulette and Chathub both require camera access. Emerald Chat has a text mode but needs an account. KoruTalk is the only major platform offering camera-free text and voice chat with no account and zero data retention.
