Our story
We started KoruTalk because we believed the original promise of the internet — connecting strangers from anywhere in the world — had gotten buried under sign-up flows, data collection, and algorithmic feeds. Random chat was one of the few places where that original magic still existed.
We wanted to rebuild that experience from scratch: fast, private, and genuinely anonymous. No account. No camera required. No ads following you around. Just two people, a connection, and a conversation.
The name "Koru" comes from the Māori symbol of a fern frond — representing new beginnings, growth, and connection. That felt right for a platform where every chat is a fresh start.

Software engineer specialising in real-time communication and browser-based privacy tools. Built KoruTalk in 2024 after Omegle's shutdown left millions of users without a privacy-respecting alternative for talking to strangers online.
